Welcome to the TTS21 Blog!

Dear Parents, Students, and Friends:
Welcome to the blog for the upcoming Traveling School semester to Central America!

This blog will be a place to read updated notes from students and teachers as we study and adventure through Guatemala, Chiapas, El Salvador and Nicaragua. This blog will be updated with a variety of information. The teachers will provide academic updates for each class, as well as updates on academic activities, outdoor adventures and beautiful cultural interactions. Students will also update this blog throughout the semester. They will share their experiences through their own words.
The teachers (Jen, Heather, Caroline and Liz) and Gennifre and Jennifer have been setting the groundwork for your adventure, and we are all very excited to meet everyone in Houston!

While in Houston we will begin the process of building the TTS21 community, getting to know each other and preparing for our flight south. Some parents will be joining us in Houston, some will not. For those of you who will not be there, we will send updates on the blog and pictures from orientation. Regarding communication, when we land in Guatemala, Jennifer in the home office will send an email update. For the first few weeks, students will be out of phone communication, however the home office will keep you updated.
Once again, we are all very excited to meet you and to begin our adventures together! A quote for the beginning of our journey: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." -Lao Tzu

Enjoy your holidays - our office is closed 12/24 - 1/2 for the break - and then we will be back in action and beginning the official countdown!
See you soon!

  1. Parent Confession: Never blogged anywhere before ... EVER. How amazing that (as parents) we have access to our daughters' experiences this semester through such tools as internet blogging! I may actually spend less time watching PBS now.

  2. Hi Wonderful new "friends to be"!!
I am Holly, Ruth's mom. I cannot wait to meet everyone in Houston. I have never blogged AS WELL, and still have a hard time finding my way back to this spot at times! I am sure as I check it Daily, I'll get better at it. I am a pediatrician and had a darling little girl visit my office last Saturday from Antigua! Wow, it made my heart swell to see those big brown eyes and know our girls will be falling in love with the people of Guatemala soon! Cheers! see you Friday

  3. So excited for our girls today as the board the plane to new and amazing places. I know that they will be forever impacted by the time that they spend with one another and the people they meet. I am looking forward to the updates and can't wait to see all that is happening throughout their days traveling. Thank you to all the staff and teachers for all preparations. My prayers that all will be safe, healthy and protected during this time . Have fun sweet girls and enjoy
